English

"Either you have it or you don't!" That's how I usually infer from what my friends believe the English examination is about. We all know that the process of learning a language takes quite some time to take effect and bring about results, yet what we lack in Prépas is actually TIME! So many of you guys do overlook the english examination and try to devote its time preparing instead for Maths or Physics..., believing that preparing for English is a waste of time as long as you're initially bad at it.
HOWEVER, there's a way to prepare efficiently for the English examination if we take into consideration a few things:
- First, the themes discussed in these "Concours" are usually the same. Mainly issues about human development or so ...
- Plus, you won't be asked to write a long essay but just a small one, so you could find a way to put together some meaningful sentences with not too much effort.
- The large part of the examination can be dealt with with no or only basic English proficiency. You must have good command of grammar and text comprehension though.

Having in mind all of this, I'll try to provide you here with a bunch of resources where you can develop vocabulary and improve sentence writing skills related to the theme most examinations are about:

I have a website where you could read some reports' summaries about human development which are really useful:
http://hdr.undp.org/en/reports/global/hdr2011/
If you have the patience and manage to learn vocabulary from these summaries, and try to write sentences built like those, you might see your grades take off : ) All you need is willingness and patience.
You could find some other websites providing generic stuff, but I prefered to give out this one.

Good luck.
